If you're already familiar with my 7 Step Method, then keep on reading for super simple ways to begin implementing the 7 Step Method in just 7 days this autumn to keep you overflowing into the holidays!
Summer is over, which means the busy holiday season is right around the corner, that makes NOW a perfect time to do something extra to fill your cup, so you don't burn out by Thanksgiving! As a pre-holiday gift, I'm sharing this season's installment of my reoccurring blog series, "7 Steps in 7 Days" to offer solutions for weaving the 7 Step Method into your weeks with more ease this autumn. Inspired by Halloween, I've put together a week's worth of spooky little ways for you to practice some bonus self-care this month in the middle of your everyday life. Whether you practice them all in one week, spread them all out from now until next month or only practice one or two over the course of the month, these ideas can help you fill your cup first this October! I hope you enjoy!
Filling Your Cup First
one day at a time.
Seven steps in seven days.
It just makes sense to me.
As I was creating, developing, and fine-tuning my 7-step method to fill my own cup first, it quickly became apparent to me that it was perfectly aligned to 7 days in a week. After launching the brand and beginning my first iteration of the Coffeetalk Newsletter, I created a monthly column sharing how you could challenge yourself through the week and accomplish something for each step in a single week using the 7 Step in 7 Day practice. It was so fun that I decided to turn this into a regular seasonal blog to share this year. I've been inconsistently producing it, only a few times so far in May & July, then I took a few months off, as I decided when in the month to release it, and how frequently to release it throughout the year. I've decided that for the remainder of this year it will post seasonally, during the first full week of the month. This is the fall post. I will post a holiday one in November. In 2025 I will post them according to a schedule I'll release in December.
Here is the October 7 Steps in 7 Days:
Sunday: Back to the Basic
Take a
"Sunday Soak"
inspired by spooky season. Light some candles, burn an incense, stream some hauntingly chill music, turn down the lights, and turn up the moisturizing. There is nothing scarier than dry, scaley, ashy skin! Well, maybe there are scarier things, but still, be sure to exfoliate your skin to eliminate all of the dead, dry skin from the last bit of summer heat. Not to mention the clogged pores from sunscreen residue and sweat build up. Exfoliating helps deep clean your pores, so they are ready to absorb the moisture from your soak. Rinse yourself thoroughly to prevent future build up and then apply your favorite moisturizing lotion to set your skin up right for colder months ahead.
Monday: Step-Up the Game
Start the day with intention by taking a "Monday Mindfulness Moment". When the stress of the impending holidays starts to spin in your head, it may easily manufacture monsters in your mind that will haunt your thoughts. Be proactive to ward off those mind demons and begin building mindfulness into your days. Practice a 15-minute morning ritual that targets a 5-minute activity for your mind, a 5-minute activity to wake up your body & a 5-minute activity to set your Spirit in a positive direction as you head into your day. It will help to keep the monsters and demons at bay in your brain.
Tuesday: Do Something Little for You
This is not a trick,
"Treat Yourself Tuesday"
is the time to spoil yourself just a little bit, for taking intentional time daily to improve your care. Grab your broom stick and fly straight to the store so you can pick up one new personal care or hygiene product that you have been eyeballing but have still been hesitant to try. Don't splurge so big you break the bank but treat yourself to something little that will keep you excited about continuing your new Journey to Dazzling!
So, not terribly scary or overwhelming to apply to your week so far, right?
The second half of the week is when things start to get real fun!
Wednesday: Get a Hobby
Hump days are perfect for a
"Wednesday Workshop" to act as a pick me up in the middle of the week. Halloween is the time of year you dress up and pretend to be someone you're not. For this hobby workshop I want you to take inspiration from that sentiment and enter your "Bob Ross Era". Head to the nearest art supply store, or even a Dollar Tree, and pick up some fall-colored paints, a few brushes, and a small canvas or two. You don't have to produce a Renaissance caliber painting, but spending a little time playing with the paints can be relaxing and fun. Now just paint!
Thursday: Get Your A$$ Moving
The week in nearly over and before it ends let's sneak in a
"Thick Thighs Thursday". The only goal it to get those thighs moving, thick or not. No body shaming here, just cheeky naming dear! Get up and get moving here, do 3 sets of 7 squats, if it feels good, do 3 sets more! In fact, Halloween falls on a Thursday this year, maybe you challenge yourself to do sets of squats while you wait for your goblins in between houses as they trick or treat the night away. Heart pumping fun!
Friday: Dream Big
When the weekend arrives, there's nothing freaky here, just "Friday Funday"
dear! You don't need a Freaky Friday swap of your own to live a different life, just a daydreaming session and some practical actionable steps to work towards. Head into the weekend with some daydreaming, for your weekend, your month, maybe even the next year! Make a list, or random notes of the things that come up for you in your daydreaming session, this will allow you to take action next. Start with those dreams and then break them up into smaller, more manageable steps to achieve your goals!
Saturday: Rest, Reflect, Reevaluate, & Restart
Celebrate
"Self-Care Saturday" by reflecting, relaxing & recharging yourself Darling! It's easy to get caught up in the chaos of the week without taking time to properly rest or taking time to reflect on your choices or the things happening to and around you. This step is about intentionally creating time in your life to check-in, rest, reflect, and reevaluate before heading right back into the chaos cycle yet another week. How you take care of yourself matters and it deserves to be reevaluated from time to time, for your benefit. Ask yourself some questions. How do you feel after a week of your own love & care? What worked? What didn't? Now make some adjustments and then try again!
